Today we didn't have much time to learn new things about our topics because we're learning how to use a variety of useful tools that can help engage students in the classroom. I learned about many new resources but the one that I found was the most useful was storybird. The reason why I like this tool is because you can create your own story using images from actual artists. The images uploaded from the artists are very inspiring which helps in the creativity process and if you don't like a particular picture you have the option of using many others from that artist. Therefore it's very useful when writing a story and trying to come up with clever ideas. I learned today that focus is key to success in the class because it is a very hectic environment with everyone continuously asking questions. I find that if you focus and carefully read the instructions it's much easier to complete the tasks. From here, I will continue to research hamilton's pollution rates to gather enough info. for my Ted Talks to really inform people of Hamilton's pollution situation and hopefully include some useful ideas that everyone can practice to reduce the pollution rate to improve our ecosystems.

Genius Hour #3
Today in class I learned many things about the city of hamilton. Continuing my resource to discover if the city of hamilton is actually getting better with their pollution crisis. Personally the evidence thus far does support the fact that hamilton has cleaned itself up in many ways but there's still tons of work that needs to be done, especially with the Bay. Iv learned that even though the city looks a certain way it doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad city. From this point on I will be continuing my research about Hamilton's pollution conditions to discover wether there are both future plans on top of what they are already doing to try and minimize the pollution rate in affected neighbourhoods. What do you think about the city and the pollution rate? Does anybody have information that can help me with my research?
Thank You

Genius Hour #2
Today in class we all got the chance to start researching our genius hour topic. At first I was hesitant to start because I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep this subject but times running so I decided to continue with this idea, tell me what you think....
How has the city of Hamilton (steel city) been affected by pollution over the years and how could they work to reduce it?
I learned that when i set my mind to something it's very easy to complete the work involved even if it's boring research. I usually find that the research part of the project is the driest but when you pick a subject that you're truly interested in it's surprisingly easy and interesting to do. A topic that means something to you is the best thing you could pick to do an independent research project. From this point on a lot of research needs to be gathered to try and solve this guiding question. I will use Scholarly research including websites, books, news papers, blogs, magazines and even interviews with people who have lived in the city their entire life and noticed these environmental changes.

Genius Hour blog post #1
Today we started to look at topics for our Genius Hour project......
I really wanted to do something that I'v been wondering about for many years. The topic I decided to do for this project is about the harmful effects that hamilton has went through over the years caused by pollution. I really want to discover if Hamilton is really getting better like many people say, or is it getting worse as the years go on? who's to blame? Therefore my goal is to discover like previously stated that Hamilton is known in Canada for being a city that has been affected by pollution, is it really getting better? or worse since the factories first opened giving us the name "steel city" and who's to blame for these detrimental affects on our landscapes and ecosystems around the Bay and in other affected areas around the city. Personally, over the years I have noticed very little changes but am I missing something? is there more to it than just visual cues? these are things that I continue to wonder and can hopefully solve.

Genius Hour: Copyright
Welcome to my blog!
I would like to bring up some important "things to know" about "copyright". Images just like webpages have copyright laws and it's very important for teachers and students to cite them properly when using them for any purpose. It's very important to insure the article/image is free for commercial use. It may require a bit of extra research, but it's very important to teach students that it's better to be safe than sorry. Here are a few examples...
